Car Stories

Car Stories is the series that takes us on a rolling tour of some of the most beautiful and rare classic cars ever made, as seen through the loving eyes of their doting owners.

Tales of love and loss, youth and excitement, and attention to detail are all part of the entertaining series Car Stories.

Season One

Mike Alexander’s hot 1967 Chevrolet Camaro is a study in performance and perfection; and Lionel Hondier’s 1985 2-CV is his favorite one of the dozens of cute little Citroens in his family.

Dwayne Cardinal’s 1963 Pontiac Parisienne puts him close to his lost parents; and Franck Point’s 1953 Citroen Traction Avant replaces one the Nazis stole from his Grandpa.

Gary and Cindy Chomiak are sweet on their 1968 California Special Mustang; and Guillaume Bedard cherishes his 1972 Porsche 911-T as a tribute to his beloved mentor.

The power of Mike Griffith’s modified 1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans-Am is always cause for surprise; and people are baffled when they find no engine under the hood of Michel Gelinas’ 1964 Chevy Monza.

Dale Gartner’s dad wouldn’t let him touch the faded paint on his 1964 Plymouth Valiant; and Larry Dansereau’s immaculate 1949 Studebaker pickup truck has one deliberate flaw.

Stephen Ross’s outstanding 1959 Talbot Lago America is one of the rarest cars in the world; and Marc-Alain Tremblay’s 1930 Model A Roadster is a precious legacy for his family.

Drew Bond got some help from his dad restoring his 1973 Alfa Romeo GT-2000; and Adrien Lallier’s father taught him how to drive in his 1928 Chevrolet Capitol One pickup truck.

Norbert Touchette’s 1970 Mustang Boss 429 is one of the fastest performance cars ever made; while Donnie Wijesooriya’s 1964 Datsun 1500 Fair Lady is all about looking sweet.

Marc Phaneuf loves to put the top down on his iconic 1957 Chevy Bel Air; and Robyn Benner enjoys taking her pal Carol for an ice cream in her 1979 VW Beetle Cabriolet.

Gary Millang’s 1960 DeSoto Adventurer was the last of its finned kind for a proud Chrysler brand; and Yvon Picot’s 1982 Triumph TR-8 was the final gasp of a proud British sports-car mark.

Armand Beauchemin’s immaculate 1970 Dodge Charger R/T is too precious to drive; and Jim Herbert’s 1951 MG-TD has been restored to a standard that far exceeds the original.

Sue MacKenzie’s 1967 Ford Thunderbird is one of the biggest two-door luxury cars ever made in America; and Allen Leier’s Austin Cooper S Mini is as small as its name suggests.

Season Two

Laurent Mougeot’s space-age Citroen DS announced that France was back after World War II; and Jim Pratt’s Jaguar XJ preserves old-world charm in a modern luxury car.

Terry Levair’s Chrysler L car marked the dawn of the muscle-car era; and Gil Leroux’s GTS made a flashy muscle car out of a regular Dodge Dart.

Pascal Labelle’s unique VW Rabbit is customized to the hilt; and Allen Leier’s powerful little Austin Mini Cooper S is surprisingly fast off the mark.

Nick Puopolo’s Fiat Dino combines Italian’s mass-production car company with its most famous sports car brand. And Fred DeBoer’s stylish Citroen has a Maserati engine under the hood.

Gaby Collette’s finned Dodge truck was competition for the El Camino; and Otto So’s DeSoto Suburban was big enough to carry a busload.

Ford had a hit with its ‘square-bird’ redesign of Sharon Raduloff’s Thunderbird. And they missed with Jorge Silva’s Edsel Ranger.

Georges Perron’s Chevrolet Confederate was a luxury car from a down-market brand; and David Baron’s Bentley is a Rolls Royce without the chauffeur.

Cathy Cook’s Dodge Dart has been a loyal family ride since it was new; and Mario Horwood’s Plymouth Savoy is forgotten next to the top-line Fury.

Eric Appadoo’s A-40 was once sold all over the post-war world; while Allan Stoller’s later-model Ford Corsair failed to keep up to the competition.

Doug Bencze’s father once admired his Buick Wildcat in a showroom, but didn’t buy it; and Chris Godin’s dad used to own his Buick Grand National.

Mark Howerton’s Fargo pickup was run into the ground on the family farm before he restored it; and Henri Amyotte’s International truck is a tribute to his family’s farming legacy.

Tom Stevens’ VW van was designed to allow passengers to see the world in all directions; and Brent Gordon’s Buick Invicta has a bubble-top back window inspired by jet fighters.

Leslie Stadnick’s Chevy pickup is an entirely modern vehicle under the hood; and Hanoz Kapadia’s Pontiac Beaumont is a unique custom car.

Season Three

These smart little Brits are always a breeze. Paul Mullins’ Sunbeam Alpine was made famous in a Bond movie; and Tom Wright’s Bugeye Sprite is the ultimate strip-down Brit sports car.

American muscle that arrives in style. Brian Collard’s Chevy Corvette is frighteningly powerful; and Harry Unruh’s Cougar Eliminator is a cut above your average Mustang.

Cars that come with a posh statement. Ernie Willms’ 1979 Lincoln has almost never been driven; and Bill Sanford’s MG Magnette was a sporty car for someone who didn’t want a ragtop.

Cars that ignored the Great Depression. Mark Tomlinson’s Chrysler Royal is influenced by futuristic airflow design; and Jim Zinkham’s Packard is all about luxury.

There’s no mistaking the era of these rides. John Fournier’s 1984 Chevy S10 is a disco trip; and Pat Kaniuga’s rare convertible Trans Am has more plush than power.

Great cars that came from troubled brands. Steve Biswanger’s Studebaker Hawk was a great car from a troubled company; and Ross Wylie’s Rebel SST should never have been tagged as a Rambler.

Fast cars that excelled in export markets. Clarence Oosterlee’s Super Bee has some special Mexican touches; and Rudy Steiner’s Toyota MR-2 is a zippy mid-engine wedge.

Two vehicles for the great outdoors. Brenda Robitaille’s Chevy Campervan goes anywhere she wants; and Al Mikl’s Jeep CJ spends most of its time in the backcountry.

Cars that sparkle at the show and shine. Gord Lucas’s Buick Special marked a high-point in Buick’s 1950s production; and Roy Smith’s Pontiac Pathfinder was the last of the chrome-rich Silver Streaks.

Cool cars from the famous Ford line. Steve Tsang’s powerful Fairlane station wagon is a rare survivor; and Bill Smeltzer had to go to great lengths to restore his Fairlane Sunliner.

Nimble cars that overtook American muscle. Sterling Rempel’s curvy Opel GT was built on a boring Kadett platform; and Ken Hugo’s little Toyota Celica struggled for respect in the North American muscle-car market.

World cars that appealed to North American families. Steve Raunest’s Volvo 1800 was a handsome car from a deadly dull car maker; and Jim Karst’s Datsun 510 was the breakthrough model for Japanese exports into North America.

These owners are defined by the cars they love. Ian Herring’s Plymouth Road Runner has a powerful hemi under the hood; and Dan Walker’s Buick Limited was as big as any car Buick ever made.

Season Four

Two classic cars fueled by nostalgia. Michael Fischer’s 1983 DeLorean boasts it’s iconic gull wing doors; and Paul Hamonic’s 1978 Mustang II is compact, yet full of American muscle.

Lincolns leave presidential statements on the road. Alex Vachon’s 1961 Lincoln Continental is the twin of a bloody past; and Robert Beach’s 1946 Lincoln Continental is flashy and refreshing.

Sophisticated muscle and italian agility. Jean-Claude Marcoux’s 1967 Olds Toronado is full of innovation and power; and Bertie-James Fitchette’s 1980 Fiat X 1/9 is a nimble nephew of a ferrari.

Hard work and craftsmanship. Rick Pikulski’s 1938 Dodge Brothers RC Commercial Sedan was rebuilt over time with love; and Robert Rees’ 1952 Buick Super Estate Wagon had turned rotten before being restored to it’s original beauty.

Two coups from opposite sides of the world. Dominic Sauve’s 1974 AMC Matador was a powerful surprise to the racing world; and Francois Bradette’s Mitsubishi 3000GT matches it’s speed, with bling.
